How is Pediatric Dentistry Different?
- Pediatric dentists are dental specialists who underwent 3 additional years of schooling in order to learn how to optimally care for children.
- Pediatric dentists were trained to use child-friendly language to explain dental problems to children. Understanding what is happening helps children cope with their treatment.
- Pediatric dentists have smaller tools that are specifically designed to treat children. The smaller sized tools make the child's experience more comfortable.
- A pediatric office is designed to put children at ease. The walls are colorful and vibrant, there is a play area for the little ones and video games for the older children.
When Should You Take your Child to the Pediatric Dentist?
It’s recommended that your child see a dentist when his or her first tooth comes in, usually before the age of one. Cavities are the most common infectious disease in Canadian children and progress very quickly in baby teeth.
Do you Need a Referral to see the Pediatric Dentist?
You do not need a referral to see our Pediatric Dentist! You can simply book an appointment and, depending on our current ability to accept new patients, will be contacted to schedule your child in to see the dentist.
Our pediatric dentist will be able to assess the condition of child's teeth and determine the correct course of action to give your child a healthy smile.
